Two points about economic stimulus/tax rebates:
First, if returning "extorted" money to the people that earned it is good for the economy, why not institute across the board, permanent tax cuts? How about the complete abolition of the income tax?
Second, instead of funding an economic stimulus package via a windfall profit tax on the oil companies, how about a windfall profit tax on the U.S. Federal Government? The oil companies provide gasoline and energy. What exactly, do producers and earners receive from Washington and its 2.3 trillion dollars. Talk about "Windfall Profits", the federal government's gross margin is about 100%.
